  • โ€œBe a good child and do what I tell you to doโ€ ๐Ÿ›‘

  • โ€œYou are such a loser for failingโ€ ๐Ÿ˜”

And a whole heap of other things. The average toddler hears the word โ€˜noโ€™ 400 times a day. And all this from well-meaning adults. Itโ€™s no wonder that we all quickly have little to no self-esteem, and start creating our lives from a negative point of view. ๐ŸŒง๏ธ

Here are 3 steps to help you develop positive thoughts and patterns to change you into who you really want to be. ๐ŸŒˆ

1. Become aware of your existing thought patterns ๐Ÿง ๐Ÿ’ญ

In โ€œThe Strangest Secret,โ€ Earl Nightingale states โ€œwe become what we think about most of the timeโ€, so the first step is to start becoming aware of what we think about. We need to be present with ourselves and catch those negative thoughts. If you were to spend two days paying attention to your thoughts, it will become clear just how many negative thoughts you have! ๐Ÿ’ก๐ŸŒฑ

A study conducted by the National Science Foundation indicates that we could have anywhere from 12,000 to 50,000 thoughts a day and 80% of our thoughts are negative. That means you are only living to 20% of your potential. That is an awful realization! ๐Ÿคฏ

Once you become aware of your thoughts, you can make yourself think a positive thought. An easy way to think something positive is to be grateful. Start with the most mundane thing you can think of to be grateful. ๐Ÿ™๐ŸŒŸ

Another way to think a positive thought is to reframe the negative thought you just had. For example, if you think โ€œmy job sucksโ€ or โ€œI hate my jobโ€ change that thought to โ€œI am grateful I have this job as it helps me pay my billsโ€. 2. Make the awareness a habit ๐Ÿ”„๐Ÿ’ก

The more you practice changing negative thought patterns, the faster you can catch a negative thought and replace it. Do this regularly and consistently, and it will become a habit. Give it the focus and it can become an autonomic habit like breathing. ๐ŸŒฌ๏ธ๐Ÿ’ญ

The more you think a certain way, the more likely you are to keep thinking that way. And as you change your negative thought patterns, you will find that your emotions also become more positive, your outlook on life and all the situations you find yourself in becomes positive and that creates positive results.
